Sunday, Jan. 22nd

Even on the "quiet" Sunday mornings there is a lot happening at Temple Judea. Here is what the kids were doing today:

Kindergarten
We continued talking about the Synagogue today. We read the story Bagels From Benny, about a boy who put bagels into the ark in his synagogue. We also mafe a beautiful mural with the art teacher, Mrs. Kutell. Next week we will begin discusing Tu B’Shevat
1st Grade
The children reviewed the story of Jacob and Esau. We learned how Jacob got his name changed to Israel. Jacob missed Esau and wanted to see him again, but was afraid Esau would
still be angry with him. When they met, both brothers were happy to see each other. They saw each one was doing well. They forgave each other and hugged. There was peace in the family. We used this story to better understand the concept of “Shalom Bayit”.
2nd  Grade
Mr. Levy's class learned the nun & Chet. We contuined our Torah Journey into the 10 plaques & discussed what “stubborn” actually means. Mrs. Rodriguez's class began decorating our own kippah. We enjoyed a special snack in honor of Ben Siegal’s sister's birthday.
3rd Grade
Today in Hebrew we learned ayin and practiced siddur words. In our Judaic studies we broke up in to groups and presented on the new city, mount Herzl, and midrahov
4th Grade
In Judaic Studies we took Abraham on his journey and discussed the interconnected words:
Abram, Av, Ram, Abraham, Patriarch, and Matriarch. In Hebrew we played a game with V’ahavta words. We sang Hatikvah as well as songs by Debbie Friedman.
5th Grade
On Sunday, the 5th grade had a special family day of learning. Thanks to all parents who were able to join us for this creative morning.  Families learned about the tradition of wimpels--torah binders.  Each family designed and created a wimpel that the student will actually be able to use on the day of  Bar or Bat Mitzvah.  They look wonderful!  Special happy birthday wishes to Sarah Hartnig!!
6th Grade
Today in 6th Grade Judaic Studies we participated in the Jewish lens program. We took pictures all over temple! Check your emails for the next date and remember to bring a camera!
