Sunday, March 27 Highlights!

Welcome back to Sundays at Temple Judea! Spring is here and Passover is around the corner - and our Kindergarten class began the new season by learning the story of Passover and creating a mini-mural to show what they talked about. They also had a chance to sing with Ms. Meredith in Music.
First grade jumped right in as they began discussing the Exodus story and acting it out. They decorated cups for Elijah and Miriam, and played a chametz-sorting game - fun! The Hebrew letter of the day was mem, and the class made a big letter mem out of M&Ms!
Second graders were reintroduced to the Four Questions for Passover, and learned a few new Hebrew letters such as gimel and zion. They also discussed what it means to be a mensch.
In third grade, the Hebrew letter of the day was ayin, and lots of words were learned using this versatile letter. In the Judaic Studies portion of the day, third graders also learned about being 18 in Israel and entering the Israeli army.
Our fourth graders finished the Joseph saga with the happy reuniting of Joseph and his brothers. In Hebrew, the story of Passover was told as the students wrote some of the key words and played a game with the new words. They also began reviewing the Four Questions and Dayenu to begin getting ready for Passover.
In fifth grade Hebrew, everyone began learning the first four lines of the G'vurot. The students had a chance to lead the new prayer for everyone in the class, and they learned a new song about why it's fun to learn Hebrew. In Judaic Studies, the kids continued their discussion of mitzvot and created scenarios in which their peers would have to make a mitzvah-conscious choice.
The sixth graders finished their projects on the four quarters of Jerusalem and began learning about freedom in honor of Passover. Discussing the relationships between slavery, silence, anonymity and ignorance, they tried to understand the concept of redemption. Everyone in the sixth grade had an opportunity to sing together in Music with Ms. Meredith today as well.
